A two-day Bike Ride near Flagstaff
Date changed to: June 21 & 22, 2008
Options for 30, 45, or 60 miles per day.
Plus a Special Option for 100 mile, “the Snow Bowl Challenge”!
By Suzanne Couvrette, Event Organizer
New this Year! Join us for a new ride in the cool pine forests south of
Flagstaff.
Ride on Hwy 3 from Clints Well, going north via Happy Jack, Mormon Lake and Lake
Mary to Flagstaff for an overnight stay of your choice. The course has several
shorter climbs but flattens out in between climbs to give riders a break.
Snow-covered Mt Humphrey looms in the distance, as riders pedal through pine
forests and cross high-elevation meadows dotted with wildflowers. Cycle along
Upper and Lower Lake Mary, and feast your eyes on blue water and green trees, as
you enjoy cool temperatures, away from the heat of the desert!
Unique option this year: the “Snow Bowl Challenge”, for strong riders who will
have a grand total of 100 miles when the day is over! The “Snow Bowl Challenge”
riders will continue north of Flagstaff all the way up to Snow Bowl at 9,000+
feet! Don’t miss this opportunity if you are into pushing yourself: the climb to
Snow Bowl will certainly challenge you!
Expect 3 Sag Stops along the course with plenty of snacks, fruit, and sandwich
makings. Your baggage will be transported to your motel: chose from our list of
4 motels, all on Woodlands Village Blvd, at the south end of Flagstaff. Camping
will be at the Coconino County Fairgrounds, but unfortunately, no showers are
available at the Fairgrounds.
