Still the same and yet different ( new improved and old fashioned). We're scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2013 , from 8am through 2pm. We'll have  four blocks of the street closed off to car traffic, centered at the corner of 5th avenue and 7th Street, just West of historic 4th Avenue. This will be our second bike swap at this spot. It was good last April and it should be great this November. Even though it's not on 4th Avenue, we still have a great partnership with the Fourth Avenue Merchants Association (FAMA).

We need volunteers to help us put this on. It's a fun event and you don't need to be a member of GABA to help. We love to meet new people. We invite all volunteers to come to a pizza party on the Thursday evening before the swap (11/14/13) at the Skybar on 4th Avenue at 6pm, so that we can plan our effort and as a "thank you" in advance to the volunteers. PLUS the new volunteers get a blue "GABA VOLUNTEER" t-shirt and as if that's not enough, there are also the highly coveted "5 GABA Bucks" that are offered to volunteers for this event, which can be used instead of US currency to pay GABA for  its "GABA Gear" (Merchandise) and/or ride fees or even membership dues!

We're expanding our seller reservation system, so that if you have a medium to large quantity amount of bicycle related treasure that you want to sell and you want to be assured of a good location without having to worry about getting there way too early and scrambling for a space, this will solve that.  Reserved selling spaces are as follows:

     10'X20' vehicle sized space-$100 

     10'X30' - vehicle plus a small  trailer-$150 

     10'X40' -$200". 

These spaces will be close to the center of the swap area and they will be held open for you. We will keep some free spaces available at the North and South ends of 5th Avenue  and the East and West ends of 7th Street. Please no vehicles with trailers in the free spaces. If you need to bring a trailer or an extra large vehicle, please call reserve a space. If you just have a single bike or  a small amount of bike stuff to sell, please walk in with it rather than bringing a vehicle in. Gaba members can bring their stuff to the GABA corral next to the club booth and sell from there while passing  the time with their fellow GABA members. It also used to be FREE to ALL participants. We can't do that anymore. We need the bike swap to be a fund raiser now, to help GABA maintain its strength as a force for advocacy within the bicycle community. If you don't know about GABA beyond the bike swap and the various rides that we put on, please come to one of our general meetings and/or a board meeting. Like I said, we love to meet new  people. For those sellers who can't bear to think of helping the cause before you've sold something, there will still be a few free spots to sell your bike stuff. We will still ask you for a cash donation as the day goes on. If you're on foot, walking around the swap to buy bike stuff, or you're rolling a bike or carrying other bike stuff to sell or trade as you walk around, we won't bug you for a donation.
