Cave Creek Overnight Ride
Cave Creek Canyon Overnight Ride
Saturday and Sunday, September 21-22, 2019.
Start/Finish: Animas High School, 1 Panther Blvd, Animas New Mexico 88020
Distance: 30 mile and 50 mile.
Nestled in the Chiricahua Mountains of Southeastern Arizona, is Cave Creek Canyon, a hidden gem, with spectacular cliffs, flowing streams and abundant wildlife. Many visitors have referred to Cave Creek as, "Arizona's Yosemite."
With magnificent scenery and unparalleled biodiversity, Cave Creek Canyon is a special place. Birding is fine here year round, especially in the spring and summer. (Friends of Cave Creek Canyon).
The Cave Creek Overnight Ride is also a great introduction to bike touring. Planning a self-contained bike tour in your future? Load up your panniers, get your bike ready, come out and ride the 30 mile Cave Creek route over rolling hills fully supported by GABA's volunteers. It's a great way to get that first overnight trip in.
We will provide one Roving support and gear station (SAG) station on Saturday and Sunday for the 50 mile distance. The Sweep Driver will have fruit, water, sports drinks, snacks, and sandwiches to refuel your ride.
There will be two Sweep vehicles on the routes providing mechanical support, and first aid if necessary. Each vehicle will be marked with a yellow magnetic sign that reads, "SUPPORT VEHICLE".
Watch for GABA signs indicating all the turns of the course and turnaround points. If you want a paper map & cue sheet, please follow the links below and print from home to bring with you on your ride. Limited number of maps & cue sheets at rider check in/registration.
